Why the Norwegian Method?
In the last decade, Norwegian distance runners went from good to dominant. Jakob Ingebrigtsen. Gustav Iden. Kristian Blummenfelt. The method behind their success wasn't a secret — it was published in research papers and coaching manuals. But it wasn't accessible to everyday runners.
The core insight is simple: most runners train too hard on easy days and not hard enough on threshold days. The Norwegian Method fixes this with precise heart rate zones, lactate-guided threshold training at 2-3 mmol/L (not the traditional 4.0), and the 4x4 VO2max protocol.
We built StartLane to make this accessible to anyone with a heart rate monitor and a pair of running shoes. Your zones are calculated in 2 minutes. Your plan is generated instantly. Your progress is measured by the only metric that matters: running faster at the same heart rate.
